Using controlled ion extraction to combine a ring electrode trap with a reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer

- A setup is shown, which combines ion storage in a ring electrode trap and subsequent detection in a Re-ToF MS.
- Ions can be stored in a mass range of 200-17,000 u.
- Controlled ion extraction enables the detection with high sensitivity.
- It is shown that the setup can be used for the study of reaction kinetics of ion/molecule reactions.
