Post-fire study of the Brazilian Scientific Antarctic Station: Toxic element contamination and potential mobility on the surrounding environment

► We evaluated the post-fire condition of soil samples near the Brazilian Antarctic Station. ► Copper, Pb and Zn presented alarming levels in the soil samples collected. ► μ-X-Ray Fluorescence in combination with chemometrics provides fast and reliable information. ► A complete clean-up procedure ought to be carried out to avoid leaching/washing.
