Study of silica-manganese oxide hybrid material as a new solid phase for on-line continuous flow enrichment of Cd(II) ions coupled to flame atomic absorption spectrometry

► The synthesis, characterization and application of SiO2/MnOx are proposed. ► The material was used for on-line cadmium preconcentration coupled to FAAS. ► A high preconcentration factor was obtained (39.4). ► The method was applied to determination of cadmium in water and biological samples.
