Novel fabricated silver particles/polypyrrole printed circuit board passive samplers for volatile organic compounds monitoring

► A novel, simple and inexpensive PCB passive sampler for VOCs was developed. ► Silver particles and polypyrrole film modified samplers had a large active surface area due to a cauliflower-like structure. ► The sampler was used with an environmentally friendly on-line desorption and preconcentration system. ► The cost was only 0.25 USD/sampling with results comparable to those obtained from a commercial passive sampler.
