Design and fabrication of artificial neural network-digital image-based colorimeter for protein assay in natural rubber latex and medical latex gloves

► DIC-ANN using CMOS camera was developed for protein assay in latex samples. ► It was based on RGB values from reaction of protein with modified Lowry reagent. ► Spectrophotometry was used for comparing the results with the proposed method. ► The LOQ of DIC-ANN for extractable protein in latex samples was 1 μg mL− 1. ► The proposed method was proved to be a convenient, rapid and inexpensive method.
