Hydrothermal synthesis and structural characterization of a new 2D inorganic-organic hybrid compound based on {Ni6PW9}2 subunit

► We synthesized an inorganic-organic hybrid compound (1), which contains a nanometer-scale SBU {Ni6PW9}2. ► In 1, the adjacent SBUs are connected by IN (HIN = isonicotinic acid) and forming a 2D layer network. ► Compound 1 exhibits semiconducting properties with the band gap Eg at 1.98 eV.
