Isolation and characteristics of polymorphic microsatellite markers in Pennahia argentatus

► Microsatellite markers were isolated from Pennahia argentatus for the first time. ► 12 microsatellite markers showed polymorphism in a single sample. ► All loci showed considerable variation and will useful for the study on P. argentatus.
