Quinonoid compounds via reactions of lawsone and 2-aminonaphthoquinone with α-bromonitroalkenes and nitroallylic acetates: Structural diversity by C-ring modification and cytotoxic evaluation against cancer cells

Pyrrole and furan fused naphthoquinones were designed and synthesized from corresponding 2-aminonaphthoquinones and 2-hydroxynaphthoquinone on reaction with conjugated nitroalkenes and evaluated against several cancer cell lines showing, in some cases, IC50 values below 1.5 μM.230
