Design, synthesis and antibacterial activities of vanillic acylhydrazone derivatives as potential β-ketoacyl-acyl carrier protein synthase III (FabH) inhibitors

► 30 acylhydrazone derivatives have been synthesized. ► Their biological activities were evaluated as potential antibacterial and selective FabH inhibitors for the first time. ► Compound E9 showed the most potent FabH inhibition.
