A vortex based panel method for potential flow simulation around a hydrofoil
چکیده انگلیسی

A new vortex based panel method is developed for the numerical simulation of a 2-D potential flow around a hydrofoil submerged under free surface with energy dissipation. Dissipative Green functions are employed in the proposed technique with the resulting solution determined from a vortex distribution on the hydrofoil. The energy dissipation over the free surface cancels the singularities of the frequency domain integration of the Green functions. Comparison of the present numerical results with experimental data and earlier numerical results show that the energy dissipation consideration is not only for the cancelation of the artificial singularities caused by the non-dissipative assumption in traditional potential flow computations but also for providing better agreement results.
