In this paper, a laval nozzle plasma reactor, which was made of stainless steel, subjected to plasma-assisted CH4CO2 conversion to synthesis gas (syngas) was studied. Voltage, time, and CH4/CO2 were adopted as three variables used to investigate the impact on the conversion, selectivity, yields, etc. By using an oscilloscope, discharge characteristics were recorded to identify the interrelationship between current and voltage detected in the experiment. The test was carried out at room temperature and under normal conditions with a circular pipe and an air pump. With the assistance of the new equipment, the test results present higher conversion than other tests carried out previously. Our results indicate that nearly 35% of the CH4 and 28% of the CO2 were converted when the voltage reached 8000Â V, and 18.9% H2 and 11.6% CO were detected. Finally, We also investigated the catalytic mechanism of a plasma-assisted chemical reaction from CH4CO2 biogas to syngas.
