Influence of nanoparticular impurities on the magnetic anisotropy of self-assembled magnetic Co-nanoparticles

► Au-particles in assemblies of Co-particles increase the local anisotropy. ► A high Au-content results in increased granular giant magnetoresistive response. ► Increased coercive fields and lower magnetic susceptibilities were found. ► The alteration of the magnetic properties was described numerically.
