Because of the flexibility of the finite element method, machining processes can be modeled in a comprehensive manner. With its use, it is easy to perform detailed analyses that hardly would be obtained in methods of experimental measurement. This article presents FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation with experimental validation in orthogonal micro-turning of AISI 1045 steel (Ck45-DIN). Machining simulation using FEM AdvantEdge® were applied to predict cutting and thrust forces, von Mises stress, maximum stress cutting, plastic deformation, deformation rate and cutting temperature distribution. The work aims to evaluate the evolution of these variables as a function of feed rate using uncoated carbide tools. The orthogonal cutting was validated by comparing the cutting forces obtained experimentally with simulated results. Was also held a prediction of cutting temperature, plastic deformation and deformation rate during the micro-machining. Experimental and simulated results showed similar values concerning the cutting force.
