This paper presents results from an experimental study on the effect of temperature on tensile strength and elastic modulus of two types of near-surface mounted (NSM) reinforcement, CFRP strip and CFRP rod, in 20–600 °C temperature range. Results from these tests indicate that both CFRP strip and rod retain most of their initial tensile strength and elastic modulus properties up to 200 °C. However, these properties degrade significantly beyond 300 °C due to decomposition of FRP resin. Further study shows NSM strip and rod possess relatively higher strength than those used for internal reinforcement and external laminates. Data from tests is utilized to propose empirical relations for variation of strength and modulus of NSM CFRP reinforcement with temperature.
