Some observations on the current status in the understanding of stress-corrosion cracking of stainless steels

Stress-corrosion cracking of austenitic stainless steels continues to be a major cause of concern in all nuclear plant. This paper discusses some of the issues that continue to obscure, rather than illuminate the subject.
