Progesterone and 17β-estradiol regulate expression of nesfatin-1/NUCB2 in mouse pituitary gland

- Expression of nesfatin-1/NUCB2 is higher in the pituitary gland than in other organs.
- Nesfatin-1 protein is localized in many cells in the anterior pituitary gland.
- The expression of NUCB2 in the pituitary gland is decreased after ovariectomy and increased with injection of progesterone and 17β-estradiol.
- In in vitro experiment, NUCB2 mRNA expression in the pituitary gland is upregulated by 17β-estradiol and downregulated by progesterone.
