Effect of long-term free-air CO2 enrichment on the diversity and activity of soil methanogens in a periodically waterlogged grassland

► Elevated CO2 in meadow soil changed plant community composition and biomass. ► The methanogenic community and size in the soil were unaffected by the treatment. ► Also the methanogenic pathways were unaffected, as seen by isotope analysis.
