Inhibitory effect of Crotalus durissus terrificus venom on chronic edema induced by injection of bacillus Calmette-Guérin into the footpad of mice

► The crude venom of Crotalus durissus terrificus snakes can inhibit the chronic inflammatory edema induced by BCG. ► Crotoxin is the toxin responsible for this inhibition. ► This inhibitory effect is possibly by the generating anti-inflammatory mediators from the lipoxygenase pathway.
