Multiscale modelling of voided ductile solids with micro-inertia and application to dynamic crack propagation
چکیده انگلیسی

The present paper is dedicated to the modelling of the effects of microscale inertia (or micro-inertia) on the behaviour of elastic-(visco)plastic porous materials under dynamic conditions. A constitutive damage model is developed using a dynamic homogenization procedure, in which inertia effects due to material motion at the microscale are taken into account. The accuracy of the proposed approach is assessed though comparisons with dynamic finite element cell computations. Then, simulations of dynamic crack extension based on the present formulation are presented. Numerical results indicate that microscale inertia has a significant influence on the computed crack growth behaviour.
