Unsustainably low birth rates: A potential crisis leading to loss of racial and cultural diversity in China

Historical statistics suggest that China's “one child” family-planning policy is exacerbating the risk of extinction for smaller ethnic groups. To mitigate the adverse consequences of this policy, the Chinese government must begin working now to understand and account for these risks and to offer a pragmatic policy for these groups based on sustainable birth rates.
