Constructions of unsheared pairs in finite strain

Let P be any point in a continuum subject to deformation. Any plane passing through P contains an infinite number of pairs of infinitesimal material line elements which are unsheared in the deformation. Assuming that the Cauchy-Green strain tensors are known we present a simple geometric construction for the determination of these unsheared pairs whether in the deformed or the undeformed state.
