Professors Coates, Humphreys, and Zimbalist provide a set of suggestions for the model we presented in [G. Carlino, N.E. Coulson, Compensating differentials and the social benefits of the NFL, Journal of Urban Economics 56 (1) (2004) 25–50]. Their two main points provide additional evidence of an NFL effect. Their remaining points are not persuasive.
