The Michelangelo Network (MICANET) has been created in 1997 by 19 European partners to elaborate a general European R&D strategy for the further development of the nuclear industry with a strong focus on innovative nuclear reactor designs. The Hydrogen Network (HYNET) established in 1999 is working on the development of strategies for the introduction of a European hydrogen fuel infrastructure. Both networks are paving the way for subsequent proposals for EU supported research projects such as V/HTR, HYSAFE, INNOHYP.
