During November and December 2004 the Department of Business Administration of the School of Industrial Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in Spain launched an international survey to analyse the main factors that have a positive influence on the sustainability of electrification projects in rural areas. Carlos Rodríguez Monroy and Antonio San Segundo Hernández report on the survey findings and its implications for renewables.
