Analysis of the SMEs Development in Romania in the Current European Context Affected by the Global Economic Crisis

The analysis of the evolution of SMEs in the current context of the European economy, strongly marked by the economic crisis, represents a subject of real interest for the contemporary society which is in a continuous search for solutions and opportunities that will lead to sustainable economic growth. Starting with this kind of approach and studying the technical literature in this domain, we have proposed ourselves, by means of this scientific endeavor, to accomplish a thorough analysis of the economic crisis on the evolution of SMEs in Romania in the context of the integration into the European Union, and also to perform an X-ray on the main indicators and activity sectors of the SMEs in Romania as compared to the ones in the European Union. We believe that, for our country, the adoption and enforcement of new policies for the recovery and development of SMEs will contribute both to creating new jobs and also to increasing the sector's contribution to the gross domestic product in the economy.
