چکیده انگلیسی
According to the Polish Programme of Vaccinations, the first vaccination of neonate should take place within 24Â hours from child's birth. Among common indications for BCG vaccination one can find e.g. low birth weight <Â 2000Â g. The further vaccinations against HBV (second dose), diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (first dose) and Haemophilus influenzae type B (first dose) should be performed in 2nd month of life. Due to the long hospitalization of preterm infants, that vaccination is carried out in the neonatal special care unit, in which the baby remains under supervision for at least the following 48Â hours. In the paper we present a side effect in the form of massive oedema of the lower part of the body in a patient vaccinated in the thigh. The infant was vaccinated according to the recommendations for the Infanrix Hexa preparation. Furthermore, in the laboratory findings one noticed raised markers of inflammatory process and positive blood culture. Some doubts remain concerning the direct impact of the vaccination on the secondary infection due to other factors described in the paper.
