The influence of fleet mix, ownership and LCCs on airports' technical/environmental efficiency

► We study airport technical efficiency including noise and local air pollution in the analysis. ► We perform a DDF model and a second-stage bootstrapping procedure. ► Fleet mix significantly affects technical/environmental efficiency. ► Public airports have higher efficiency scores while LCCs have no effect. ► Policy makers could provide an incentive scheme that rewards the greenest airports.
