Effect of heat exchanger material and fouling on thermoelectric exhaust heat recovery

► Recovered power of the thermoelectrics increased from 2 to 3.8 W at higher flowrates. ► Although power increased system efficiency decreased from 0.95% to 0.6%. ► A large effect of heat exchanger material occurred due to wall thickness. ► Heat exchangers fouled with exhaust experience degradation in performance of 5-10%.
