Fe-ions modified mesoporous Bi2WO6 nanosheets with high visible light photocatalytic activity

► Fe-ions modified mesoporous Bi2WO6 nanosheets were successfully synthesized via a simple two-step method. ► The addition of small amount Fe-ions could markedly improve the activity of Bi2WO6. ► The optimized Fe-ions content was found to be 0.1 wt.% in this investigation. ► Fe-ions mainly existed as Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions and were well uniformly distributed on the surface of photocatalyst.
