Analysis of HIV-1 fusion peptide inhibition by synthetic peptides from E1 protein of GB virus C

► GBV-C related peptides as possible inhibitors of the HIV-1 FP insertion into bilayers. ► 5 out of 58 of the synthesized peptides are involved in the prevention of HIV-1 entry. ► The effect of HIV-1 FP on bilayers is illustrated by confocal microscopy. ► Spontaneous binding between E1 peptides and HIV-1 FP has been observed.
