Visco-elastic and adhesive properties of adsorbed polyelectrolyte multilayers determined in situ with QCM-D and AFM measurements

Visco-elastic properties of polyelectrolyte multilayer films were studied as a function of pH. A rigid film was formed when polyacrylic acid capped the film and a more open film was formed when polyallylamine hydrochloride capped the film.
