Laser remelting of Al-1.5Â wt%Fe alloy surfaces: Numerical and experimental analyses

► A 3D numerical approach has been validated in the laser surface remelting (LSR). ► The LSR of an Al-1.5 wt%Fe alloy has shown a stable Al-Al3Fe aligned eutectic. ► The hardness of the resolidified layer has increased significantly. ► The resolidified layer had a significant increase in the corrosion resistance.
