Modeling leaflet correction techniques in aortic valve repair: A finite element study

► We created finite element models to simulate aortic valves that are normal or with leaflet prolapse. ► Current surgical leaflet correction techniques were implemented in the insufficient valve models. ► Current techniques do not adversely affect the dynamic properties of the repaired valves. ► Only leaflet resuspension restores normal competence, stress and orifice and coaptation areas.
