Low pulse pressure with high pulsatile external left ventricular power: Influence of aortic waves

► We showed that wave interactions in the aorta can create abnormal wave conditions. ► Under abnormal conditions, higher pulsatile ELVP does not follow from higher PP. ► Normal conditions show a similar shape in the reflected wave intensity (RWI) graph. ► Normal RWI patterns have three distinct peaks of decreasing amplitude over cycle. ► In abnormal cases, the 2nd and 3rd peaks of RWI are replaced with a single peak.
