Testing a developmental model of anxiety with the Parental Facilitation of Mastery Scale

▶ We developed the PFMS to assess parenting styles that promote mastery in childhood. ▶ The PFMS revealed two factors: parental overprotection and parental challenge. ▶The two PFMS factors demonstrated good psychometric properties. ▶ Perceived control mediated the relationship between parenting styles and anxiety.
