Thought-action fusion as a mediator of religiosity and obsessive-compulsive symptoms

► Christian, Jewish, Atheist/Agnostics were exposed to an experimental thought-induction protocol. ► A test of the conditional/indirect effects were computed using PROCESS and bootstrapping analyses. ► Christianity moderated the effects of religiosity on thought-action fusion (TAF)-Moral. ► TAF-Moral mediated the relationship between religiosity and OC symptoms, guilt, and responsibility. ► Religious teachings may fuel TAF beliefs that are implicated in the maintenance of OCD.
