Post-acquisition repetitive thought in fear conditioning: An experimental investigation of the effect of CS-US-rehearsal

► Repetitive thought is a risk factor for anxiety, that can be mimicked by CS-US-rehearsal. ► The impact of post-acquisition rehearsal of a CS-US-contingency on CR strength is investigated. ► CS-US-rehearsal increases CR magnitude compared to when no rehearsal occurs. ► This effect cannot be attributed to inflation of the aversive value of the US-representation.
