Cognitive inefficiency in depressive undergraduates: Stroop processing and ERPs

▶ Depressive individuals exhibit larger interference effects at the N450 than do healthy controls during Stroop performance. ▶ Depressive individuals exhibit larger P300s than do healthy controls during Stroop performance. ▶ N450 effects are related to trait rumination in the depressive group. ▶ Groups exhibit equivalent behavioral performance. The ERP results are interpreted within the framework of a “cognitive inefficiency” model.
