Executive functions in synesthesia

► We investigate the relationship between synesthesia and executive control functions. ► Synesthetes did not generally differ from controls in classic executive control paradigms. ► 'Normal' Stroop performance did not predict synesthetic Stroop performance. ► No clear relationship was found between executive control and synesthetic effects. ► Which mechanisms are at play during conflicting (real and synesthetic) sensations?
