Through with the looking glass: Escape responses to implicit mirror exposure

► Escape responses to incidental mirror exposure were explored experimentally. ► Mirror exposure increased interest in experiencing a “pure consciousness event.” ► Exposure increased interest in flow among those who felt less “trapped” in the body. ► Such responses seem more complex than anticipated by Objective Self-Awareness theory.
