A generation of attitude trends among US householders as measured in the NORC General Social Survey 1972-2010

► A tour d'horizon of 43 liberal/conservative attitude trends in the General Social Survey. ► From 1973 to 2008 the trends were overwhelmingly liberal. ► Educational upgrading, driven by Cohort replacement, seems to be the major influence. ► Stagnant educational growth and less liberal residual Cohort effects are now slowing the process. ► All else equal, the famous “generation gap” is predicted to erode.
