Standing and flat lying α-6T molecules probed by imaging photoelectron spectroscopy

► Needle- and platelet-like crystallites of α-6T found on Ag(1 1 0) surface. ► High energy light sources excite photo electrons from the organic crystallites. ► PEEM probes individual crystallites on the same surface by UPS like spectroscopy. ► Platelets show different spectroscopic signature than needles and wetting layer. ► Shape and spectroscopic signature of crystallites reveal molecular orientation.
