Synthesized quaternary NCYU-1, i.e., [Cd4In16S33 â xSex]10â, supertetrahedral clusters reveal two strong solid state luminescence peaks, centered at 460 and 530 nm, under excitation by UV radiation (λ = 360 nm). The peak at 530 nm is due to the porosity property of T4 clusters (such as NCYU-CdInS). However, this is the first time for reporting the 460-nm peak and it is attributed to the trace doped Se atoms confined in the NCYU-1 clusters. The solid state luminescence output from the NCYU-1 is independent of temperature from 298 to 77 K, which shows that the novel quaternary open-framework NCYU-1 has a broad range of photoluminescence properties in addition to its potential porosity.
