Cyclams with varied degree of protonation in the assemblies with cyano complexes of Mo and W

► Structures of five ionic assemblies of cyano complexes of Mo and W are reported. ► Presence of 3d metal ions influence the degree of protonation of macrocyclic cations. ► Different conformations of protonated macrocyclic rings are observed. ► First time different degree of cyclam protonation is encountered in single structure.
