Synthesis, structure and properties of mercury complexes with a new extended tetrathiafulvalene 4,5-dithiolate ligand

A new extended tetrathiafulvalene dithiolate ligand, benzotetrathiafulvalenedithiolate (btdt2−), and mercury complexes based on it have been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of (Me4N)2[Hg(btdt)2] is determined. The extending planar conjugation system with phenyl on the ligand framework increases intermolecular reaction and leads to the enhancement of conductivity.
