Synthesis and characterization of hexamethy tetraaza macrocyclic nickel(II) complexes with polycarboxylate ligands

The complexes [Ni(L)(H-chdc−)2] (1) and [Ni(L)(H2-btc−)2]·2H2O (2) (L = C-meso-5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) were synthesized and structurally characterized. The crystal structure of 1 and 2 exhibits a distorted octahedron about each nickel(II) ion, in which complex 2 gives rise to a 2D hydrogen-bonded infinite chain.
