Nickel(II) compounds of a tri-amine mono-imine macrocycle: Preparations and structures of (5,7,7,12,14,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradec-4-ene)nickel(II) compounds

► One imine function of a (diimine-diamine)nickel(II) cation was reduced. ► A novel (imine-triamine tetraazamacrocycle)nickel(II) cation resulted. ► This was isolated as two isomers arising from chiral nitrogen centres present. ► These isomers interconvert extremely slowly in solution. ► The structures of three compounds of the cation are reported.
