Synthesis and characterization of sterically expanded ansa-η1-fluorenyl-amido complexes

Variable solid-state hapticity is observed in sterically expanded zirconium and hafnium fluorenyl-amido complexes of the type Me2Si(ηn-C29H36)(η1-N-tBu)MX2 · Lm. When the X ligands are small, ethereal adducts with η1 coordination are observed. When the X ligands are large, ether-free η5 species are found.
