The amino substituents of (trans-6,13-diamino-6,13-dimethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane)nickel(II) are readily acylated by reaction with acetic or propionic anhydrides to form the 6,13-bismethylamido-(acetylamido) or 6,13-bis(propionylamido)-(ethylamido) substituted cations, [Ni(diamme)]2+ or [Ni(diamet)]2+.
