Structural and magnetic characterization of copper(II) halide complexes with 2-(dimethylaminomethyl)-3-hydroxypyridine

Dimeric complexes, bis[dihalo(2-dimethylaminomethyl-3-hydroxypyridine)-copper(II)], [Cu(dmamhp)X2]2, were prepared and the geometry around the copper(II) center in the dimeric unit is a distorted trigonal bipyramid. The magnetic susceptibility data indicates that there are antiferromagnetic interactions between the copper(II) ions.
